"Dark Arc" receives Leo Awards nomination for Best Lead Performance - Female in a Feature Length Drama
Vancouver-produced film Dark Arc gets a Leo Award nod for performance by Sarah Strange in the Feature Length
Drama category. The Vancouver shot comedy is currently playing on the festival circuit where reviewers and fans
alike have consistently singled out Strange's performance. Michael P. Scasserra of IFC News calls the film "a
candy-colored version of David Lynch" and makes special mention of "the alluring Sarah Strange", while Metroactive
writer Richard von Busack calls Strange "every bit as decadent as Angelina Jolie wishes she was".
No stranger to the Leo Awards Sarah's debut role as "Carole" in the award-winning drama series Madison earned her a
1996 Leo Award for Best Actress and three consecutive Gemini nominations; and in 1995 she garnered a Gemini Award
for her guest role in the acclaimed drama series Neon Rider.
The busy actress has made recent appearances on the ABC series My Life As I Know It, with Kelly Osbourne; and is
back to work on DaVinci's Inquest, in a series regular role that earned her another Leo Award nomination in 2000.
Sarah has just completed work opposite Ken Finkleman on The Newsroom as well as featured roles in the upcoming
feature Pursued, with Christian Slater and Gil Bellows.
A neo-noir comedy, Dark Arc tells the story of Viscount Laris (Dan Zukovic), an eccentric modern-day dandy obsessed
by the power of art and visual imagery to mold the behavior and psychology of the individual. With his complicit
female muse Juxta (Sarah Strange), he orchestrates an elaborate series of staged visual events for the sole purpose
of subliminally influencing the life of a harmless, down-to-earth graphic designer Ed Smith (Kurt Max Runte). As the
Viscount's visual manipulations escalate his experiments begin to take on the cruel and sinister overtones that will
lead the film to its climactic conclusion.
Dark Arc is produced by Jeremy Dyson and Brendan Keown of local production company Third Tribe Productions. The film
stars Dan Zukovic, Sarah Strange, and Kurt Max Runte, and is director Dan Zukovic's second feature comedy. Zukovic's
previous film, the LA lensed The Last Big Thing, starred Mark Ruffalo and Susan Heimbinder and was a festival hit
upon its release in 1998. It also gathered an enthusiastic following due to a series of successful broadcasts on
SHOWTIME, the SUNDANCE CHANNEL, and the MOVIE CHANNEL.
Dark Arc was is written and directed by Dan Zukovic. Starring Dan Zukovic (The Last Big Thing), Sarah Strange
(Davinci's Inquest, ReGenesis) and Kurt Max Runte (Little War). Producers are Jeremy Dyson and
